A well known artist living independently in a duplex house needed a private space of her own with ample sunlight and openness. The lower level is a seamless sequence of spaces- a living room links with an open kitchen connected to a balcony. The second level houses two bedrooms. The third level was added to accommodate guests with a terrace garden. A sky lit staircase is unifying structure that ties up the three levels. The sunlight through the staircase fills the immediate adjacencies with natural light in the daytime, bringing about a strong sense of connectedness and warmth.

All the finishes and materials were kept in natural pastel shades keeping in mind the artist’s sense of style.
